Drummie Croft, Aberdeenshire
Brief: To create a low energy, sustainable residence with plenty of space without losing the attributes of the original croft building.
Solution: A locally sourced timber clad extension to the original croft building is proposed with the addition of contemporary windows and doors. A bio-climatic approach to sun and shelter has resulted in the glazing being oriented to maximise use of natural sunlight and the inclusion of a whole house heat recovery and ventilation system. A reed bed system for waste water as well as a number of other eco-friendly options have been included in the design.
Status: Application for Planning Approval imminent.
